Blair House likely opened in the late 1950s, after the construction of Chapel Hill Boulevard. I know brief about it. The Herald referred to it as "Country Inn" in the below 1960 photos.     "Country Inn" - 04.01.60   "Country Inn" - 04.01.60   Schrafft's Country Inn ad, 1964   By the early-to-mid 1970s, it had closed, and the building(s) had develop "Blueberry Hill" - which may own been Durham's first bar for the gay community. LGBTQIA Durham

“Safe, inviting, inspiring.” That’s how Durham’s LGTBQIA community describes the Bull City. From its activist roots to current reputation as a linear Southern city, Durhamites have worked difficult to ensure that the Bull Town is a welcoming place for all who visit. Event organizers and participants are proud to take love and advocacy back to the forefront of the event to steer stronger connections and further growth and success. Moreover, each August, Durham ho

Designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978, the original Pride flag incorporated eight different colors to represent eight different aspects of the queer people. While the colors of the flag changed over time to incorporate more groups and to identify the contributions of LGBTQIA people of color, the meaning of the rainbow flag is the similar — it's a symbol of diversity, identity and support for the LGBTQIA community. In Durham, we proudly wave and exhibit our rainbow flags, cherish our queer community and support our queer-owned businesses.
