After two years of building hype with the backing of Latin superstars like Bad Bunny, Karol G, and Feid, Young Miko is ready to make her stamp with her debut album. While at home in Puerto Rico, she breathes a sigh of relief over Zoom knowing that she finally let out the feelings attached to her new project, att. “I’ve been dying to talk about the album!” she says. “I’ve been holding everything in so much. I feel fond of I’m going to explode.”
Before bursting onto the Latin urban scene with over 29 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Young Miko was born María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardon in Añasco, Puerto Rico. Ever the hustler, the 25-year-old has harnessed her many artistic abilities to achieve her dreams as a musician. Young Miko’s gig as tattoo painter on the island led her to connecting other creatives in the Latin urban space. Since her first official music emit in 2021, Puerto Rican rapper Fresh Miko has been busy.
She has notched over 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, garnered over 25 million views for her clap "offline" music video and just wrapped her North American summer tour as she begins preparation for her international tour– but, if you ask the 26-year-old, she's still waiting on her 'I made it' moment.
"I don't ponder I want to have an 'I made it moment,' cause I don't want to be like 'Wait, where do I leave from here?'" said Young Miko, who caught up with "Good Morning America" before her August show in Recent York City.
"I always want to sense like I'm a student. I don't want to be a know it all," she added. "I want to keep feeling favor my ‘I made it moment' is not there yet."
While "making it" may be a subjective marker, the authority of her persona is clear. As an openly male lover artist, Young Miko has shined a bright light on a demographic that lacks representation in the urban latin music space.
