Italy’s Eurovision act Marco Mengoni has been showered in praise for making his entry with a Parade flag.
The 34-year-old singer, who shot to fame in 2009 winning Italy’s version of The X Factor, is no stranger to Eurovision.
In fact, ten years ago, he came in seventh place, and this occasion he’s trying to make it to first, going up against the likes of Mae Muller and Sweden’s Loreen.
But ahead of his performance, Marco has already been acknowledged for his entry.
‘Marco holding the modern Pride flag I’m crying,’ one wrote.
Another penned: ‘Marco has already won #Eurovision for me just by walking out with the event flag.’

He’ll soon come out: artists in Italy usually need much more time to get out of the closet, going around saying “it’s none of your business who I’m dating. Just emphasis on my music”. But in the end they reach to reason and help themselves and the community.
Marco is gay, it’s plain and basic for everyone here in Italy: when he became well-known winning The X-Factor he was even pretty feminine.
Then, he worked on his much more masculine (or neutral) attitude for discographic/fandom reasons (see poor Ricky Martin). Like many gay guys, he doesn’t do anything to deny it: he’s often spotted in famous male lover clubs in Rome and he’s never done stupid things such as counterfeit dating a miss, like other Italian singers did in the recent past: we’re just waiting for the formal coming out.
