Among the Bulldogs in the NFL, Marcus Banks (Buccaneers) and Tyre Phillips (Giants) are practice squad members. Prescott (Cowboys) and Cameron Young (Seahawks) are both on injured reserve and will not play this week.

When the Bears sent a second round choose to the Commanders to bring in defensive end Montez Sweat at Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline many fans hoped it would grant the team the spark it needed on the defensive line. For a year and a half the Bears have had the worst pass rush in the NFL, so adding a player of Sweat’s caliber seemed love a move that could help the team take a step in the right direction.

Even though Sweat had been in Chicago for just four days, some expected Sweat to make an instant impact. And when Sweat didn’t get home for a sack in his first game as a Bear, those same people took to social media to communicate concern that GM Ryan Poles had once again traded for a dud, with memories of Chase Claypool’s turbulent tenure with the team still fresh.
But on NBC Sport Chicago’s “Football Aftershow,” former Bears linebacker Lance Briggs explained why he reflection Sweat had a positive impact, despite being held without a sack.

The stat sheet doesn’t say much about Montez Sweat. The Bears’ Pro Bowl pass rusher has only two tackles in two games and has yet to sack the opposing quarterback.
The game film, however, tells a different story. When the Bears coaches watch the film, they track a lot more than sacks. Sweat is doing a lot of things right, even if he’s not sacking the quarterback.
“How he’s factoring, statistically in our room with how we grade it all, he’s doing a really excellent job from the meaning of factoring in the run game too [and] his ability to crumble the pocket,” defensive line coach Travis Smith said.
It’s a team effort among the four defensive linemen rushing the quarterback. Sweat is drawing double-teams and he’s drawing blocking facilitate from tight ends and running backs. That typically frees things up for the other defensive linemen.

A Virginia man was arrested on suspicion of having shot and killed the brother of Washington Football Team defensive end Montez Sweat, the Henrico County Police Department said Friday.
Shon Bloomfield, 47, of Chesterfield County, was taken into custody without incident, according to Henrico County authorities. The arrest was made as part of a joint effort among Henrico County Police, as successfully as Chesterfield Police and Virginia State Police.
Bloomfield has been charged with second-degree murder, as successfully as the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held in the Henrico County Sheriff's Office without bond, and an initial court rendezvous has not been identified.
Bloomfield is the main suspect in the shooting death of 27-year-old Anthony Sweat, who was killed on December 28 near the town of Dumbarton. Officers responded just after 4 p.m. ET that day after a report of shots fired to find Sweat dead at the scene.
It is unclear what caused the skirmish to begin, but authorities stated that Sweat was known to have ties to the area in which he was killed.
