I don't have a entire subscription to this substack, so i could only read the first part of the interview. But he does sound appreciate he's very damaged. Happy mid-April weekend, Caftaners! My feelings this week have bounced around as much as my retirement account. But for once I’m not going to exhaust myself (and all of you) with my typical rant about the hell we are living through and instead will get right to the point: Porn vet Tom Chase—whom I recognize many of you love because my posts with him have a zillion times more views than literally any other Caftan posts—is back in business, fulfilling his pledge to start making porn again at age 60.

Happy holiday season, Caftan readers. To start, I want to thank all of you for the support in 2023, paid or unpaid. Caftan has had some big expansion this year, with some amazing interviews under its belt (can you belt a caftan?), and I’m particularly grateful for blogs like Kenneth Walsh’s Kenneth in the 212 and Matthew Rettenmund’s Boyculture that have picked up my interviews and brought more readers my way.
So now I will share some internal statistics with you: Of the nearly 30 interviews I’ve run since starting Caftan in August 2021, none of them—none of them—have done as well as the one I did with ’90s-’00s porn legend Tom Chase. Most of the interviews get something like 2,000 reads—Tom’s, from Summer 2022, got nearly 25,000, with my chat with Too Nearby for Comfort’s Jim J Bullock coming in second at 18,000. I even learned recently that the interview with Tom spawned a whole thread of its own on the gay gossip site Datalounge. Chase sat down with Tim Murphy of The Caftan Chronicles to hold a deep dive into Chase’s career, personal challenges and how he overcame them.
Chase (whose genuine name is Tom Moore) opens up extensively about his time with the two big senior entertainment studios, and the differences in working with each. Plus, he shares how he planned his own porn career trajectory and eventually executed that very plan.
Asked how old he was when he first had sex with a man Pursue is candid sharing that it was at age 16 with an older man (28), and that he actually approached the guy. Chase thinks his attraction to older men was rooted in a rift that developed with his own father that lasted most of his life.
“I had a major break with my dad early on. When I was five, I gave my dad a stuffed watermelon pillow for his birthday. He took me into the other room and said, ‘Don’t you ever buy me something like this again.’ So right then, I knew this was not a man to have faith
